Partial list of Questor Guesses (that are not at the right location)
[I am receiving about 150 Questor guesses per month. Here are a few of them so you won't duplicate the search. Several Questors are starting to just send Google map Quest locations which is acceptable. Remember 15 feet from the location is acceptable, but again a general building or park location does not get the prize. I do read all the guesses submitted, both to website Response@questmystery.com and when they are sent to the Publisher at AddisonHighsmith@gmail.com. Several of the guesses are deeply thought out and I appreciate the earnest effort, and sorry, because of volume, my response seem somewhat terse and deflating. I appreciate all the guesses as to the dagger location. Here again for the process of elimination are some of the submitted guesses that are not correct. SG
I want to thank you for participating in the Quest Mystery, and especially to those hundred of Questors who have submitted guesses as to the dagger's location. No guess is too unreasonable. All submissions are regarded as serious since you are taking the Quest serious enough to participate. Below are examples of past guesses. Because there have been so many guesses submitted we can only list a few at this time but will list other guesses in the future.
Let me reiterate several points in the questing: (1) the Questor needs to directly find the dagger or have one's guess to be within 15 feet. Merely saying, 'it is in such-and-such cemetery' is too general. (2) Feel free to send along the logic on how you arrived at a Quest Guess. There are some very intelligent Questors, and some of their ideas certainly need to be considered in creating the next Quest Mystery. (3) You have to read the book to find the dagger. The Questor who slept with Vegas Die under their pillow to gain a 'feel' for the prize's location, or the Questor who is using the I-Ching in their search are to be commended for relying on unseen faith, but please read the book. (4) And, in reviewing the dagger's location it is still holds true that the clues in the book can lead a person not living in Las Vegas to make a long-distant, arm-chair, educated guess to within 15 feet of the dagger's location. Nevertheless, if the Quest goes into the third year without dagger discovery I may put out several visible clues that might expedite the dagger's discovery but would require Questors to visit Las Vegas, but not now. The clues you need are in the book. The hidden dagger is still out there.

I am taking a guess at any dagger being located on or near the NW corner of the formerly known as Federal Court house building at 301 Stewart Ave. This is now the old post office and soon to be cultural center
I would like to put in a guess that the treasure dagger is located at the Spinning Red Slipper located between the El Cortez and Mamacita's Cuban Mexican Restaurant on Fremont Street
Guessing any dagger to be within 15-20' of the "Green House" Howard Hughes five room cottage on the KLAS (Channel 8) property off of DI/Channel 8 drive.
The treasure you have hidden is amongst the other treasures within 15' of Moosolini (mounted moosehead on the wall)! At Battista's Hole in the wall 4041 Audrie, Las Vegas, NV This is really a place of treasures.
But I have another guess. At the ckark county government building, there is a "tower" to the NE of the stage. On top of the "tower" is a metal rod. Not sure what the metal rod is, but is it a dagger? If not, I guess down the center of the tower is a dagger.
Is there a dagger in the empty lot off Sirius between Fontainbleu and the I-15. There is an access road there going south toward Aldebaran [too generalized---sg]
I believe the treasure is located within 15' of the bar at Battista's Hole in the wall located at 4041 Audrie St Las Vegas...because it is NOT in the bathroom!

I have a question regarding "guesses" of the location of the treasure dagger. If a person guesses a building such as a retail store or restaurant as the location of the dagger such as McDonalds on Charleston across from UMC, and that's where it was, would you allow that as a legitimate guess and award them the prize?
The reason I ask is if there was a Questor who had limited means and resources but they did their research and gave the reason they came to guess that location, but they didn't know the layout of the property, would they be able to collect? There is obviously more than 15 feet between the drive-thru window and the men's bathroom so does that stand as far as a guessing a building or suite in a strip mall? By the way, I enjoy the questing and have learned much more about Las Vegas history by doing research. The history behind the history is very informative about how some of Las Vegas came to be what it is, and without questing, there wouldn't be much reason to research the things I have...thank you.
Response: I would have to say that specifically you need to be within 15 feet of the prize dagger, and in that presumption, if you are that close in your guess, for all intent, you probably have the exact idea in mind where the dagger is, and should be able to locate it directly. As for armchair Questors, those not in town, there are several Questors who I have a high opinion of who are honest and reputable. If you think you have a strong guess, based on book clues, and/or the black daggers, then send your guess to me, and let me know you are contacting a local Questor to check out the location. That should protect you from anything not proper. You might however offer a finder's fee, like ___ % to the local Questor for helping you locate the dagger.

Okay I really think I have this thing figured out. (How many times have you heard that?) I am submitting this to you and will head to this location later this evening, before they close to investigate it, because
1) I'm not sure how big the store is, can't get within 15ft.
2) What could be better than actually finding it in person, and recognizing it as the much sought after silver dagger?? Nothing.

Here's how I came to this solution:
Starting with the major clue the author has consistently been repeating: "Nothing is as it seems."
That seemed the most significant, and in my mind seemed a logical choice that we weren't looking for an actual dagger, and that is most likely the reason it hasn't been found yet. Clever author.
Ok so I began googling silver dagger to see what else it could possibly be. I came across the literary award given to crime writers and thought how perfect that was, but after trying everyway possible to link it to a location in LV, hit a dead end. Then came across an old post on the forum that someone previously had also had that thought.
Just couldn't get past that idea that it was not a real dagger though so kept searching. Found an old comic book character named "Silver Dagger" but couldn't imagine how something so random could be narrowed down to a location in LV. So I began reading about him.
Silver Dagger's character used to be a cardinal in the church. He goes around killing people with his silver daggers. He believes he is righteous, acting as "an avenging angel" which Katherine was described as in the book.
This seemed to be a very good suspect to me, but how can I find him from the book? I started going back through the book to see if there was anything to support my theory. Biggie" # 1: Eric gives Owen a comic book he drew. ( I almost jumped for joy.)
There seem to be many biblical references but I remember thinking it was odd when I read the book originally cause Katherine told Owen after her confession "Old fashioned bible justice is the code of the west." I found that strange at the time, but seems to fit now.
I even noticed someone making wolf sounds at the final shoot out in the garden, (Silver Dagger fought the Wolfman in comic book), and also felt that some of Hi and Jinx song lyrics could be fantasy, and referring to comic book scenes. Those things admittedly could be a stretch.
I think there also may have been a reference in the book about a "written quote" which happens to be a line from Silver Dagger's favorite quotes, but I didn't have time to search whole book for it, and wasn't sure if I imagined it or not?
However I felt I had enough to keep going down this trail. Just wasn't sure how. I figured comic book stores would be the next logical step, but there is so many, and there had to be something to lead me there I thought, couldn't just be random.
I did more searching, even found cover of comic book with Silver Dagger and other characters depicted on tarot cards, and thought it may be a solution to napkin puzzle, and a way to find store. No luck.
Kept searching. I went to Marvel's site (Comic Book Publisher) and they had a link to find comic book stores. So put in my zip and got a list of 5.
When I saw the name of the store, Alternate Reality, I immediately thought "nothing is as it seems"!! OMG! So I went to their website to learn more. Thats when I found the owners wife is Katherine!! I couldn't believe it. It all made sense. Find the killer with the dagger!
This seems to be a very solid conclusion to me. As I said, I'm going to eat dinner or go there shortly, and if this is coincidence I will just die. Too crazy. It has to be answer. I'm hoping.

This "undercover" Greek cafe is near Famous Footwear (Touch of Nina). A former New Yorker has ventured into a Greek McDonalds concept. The cafe has a fountain and cloth banners streaming above diners. The dagger is within 15 feet of Market Grill Cafe at 7920 W. Tropical Parkway # 170, Las Vegas, NV 89149.
THERE ARE TWO DAGGERS!
1. Spiral staircase to a basement bar. Not in a casino! Under it! Public Wine Collection. Not flying! A "flight" of wine. This dagger is within 15 feet of the staircase leading to THE WINE CELLAR within the Masquerade Village under the Rio Hotel & Casino at 3700 W. Flamingo. The Wine Cellar is in a basement which can only be accessed by taking a spiral staircase to the bar's hiding place.
2. Glass exterior elevator to Spiral Staircase. Walk one flight down to Voodoo Lounge Bar/club. Not in a casino! Way above it! You are flying high! An ultra-extreme staircase. This dagger is within 15 feet of the spiral staircase between the 50th and 51st floors of the Rio Hotel, 3700 W. Flamingo, Las Vegas, NV.

Since CHP has other water features (i.e. frog misters and wading pad), we cannot rule out the Adventure playground. The kids area is pure "Alice in Wonderland". There are painted steps, huge caterpillars, butterflies, mushrooms, daisies, and toad stools. There are even talking tubes each called Bob (i.e. Mechanical, Space and Human). Parents can monitor kids from observation deck above the tot lot. At the entrance to the play area, there is an overhead steel flower box, which is color-stained.

There was a marathon of Questors who had by their clue analysis had guessed that the Dagger was hidden in Sunset Park, like this one:
Is it near the two trees with the DUI markers north of baseball field 13 in Sunset Park. Photos of DUI markers attached. Finally, the author had to write a response saying the dagger was not in Sunset Park at all (and hence all of you will now have this clue information) This is the response we received:

The "el" shaped building? The Garden of Allah? The break in the fence? Orion's belt? The "smiley face"? I could go on for quite a while, as you are likely well aware (see attached image).
The odds of coincidence are too astronomical.
So, that means...
A) It IS located in Sunset Park, I'm getting too close , you don't want the dagger found yet, and you're deliberately trying to mislead me.
or
B) You spent an AWFUL lot of time leading people to Sunset Park on a wild goose chase. To what end? A giant diversion? or
C) The dagger is not hidden in Sunset Park, but it is CLOSE to Sunset Park, and/or clues to it's actual location are located in the park (in which case, option A would still partially apply)
or
D) Some other fourth option.
I have no reason to believe that you would flat out lie to me, so I'm going to rule out option A. Since I don't know what option D is, that leaves B and C.
If it is B, then congratulations! You have succeeded! But that doesn't help me in my quest.
So, that leaves option C. If it is C, and you're trying to lead me away from the park because it will ultimately lead me to the actual location, then I must continue searching in and around the park (unless of course you want to take option C off the table right now.) ;-)

A recent Questor guess. Not the right location, but the concept of lines to establish a dagger point is intriguing.
Riding in the wind literally. Go Karts....The dagger is within 15 feet of the Sprint Kart Speedway at the Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix located at 1401 N. Rainbow Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89108--(between W. Vegas Drive and W. Washington and I-95 and N. Rainbow Blvd.)
While still hunting for the squid connection (duh!...calamari)...Why not a place that also sells seafood New York or Chicago style? Finally focused pass Greek Isles Hotel and found Piero's up the street towards Paradise Rd. Noticed the shrubbery growing on the front and side of the restaurant. Mobster and Old Vegas connections galore, osso bucco, and calamari too. This Italian restaurant used to be on Karen Street (name used for Grayson's nurse), but later moved near the convention center. The dagger has to be here. The dagger must be within 15 feet of Piero's Italian Cuisine at 355 Convention Center Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89109.
At long last.....The quest is over. Legendary blues funk with shells on sand... The dagger is within 15 feet of the Sand Dollar Blues Club at 3355 Spring Mountain Road, Las Vegas 89109 (between Polaris Ave and Aldebaran Ave). The dagger is near Jose Equiis' Parrot (a youcan toucan). It's near the swirly axes in an orbit Bahrain, which is near dice on amber inside a bowed arch. This high fan is near an old cast mister.
This off-strip hotel & casino (now in bankruptcy) is located in the heart of LV. GIH has a history with "The Tribute to Frank, Sammy, Joey & Dean" and "The World's Greatest Magic Show "performers. Ignite: the fire and illusion show performs here. Debbie Reynolds once owned the hotel, which was sold to World Wide Wrestling. Delta later used the hotel for its airline crew. There are various life-like murals depicting a small greek village. The dagger is within 15 feet of the entrance to the Greek Isles Hotel at 305 Convention Center Drive, Las Vegas, NV.
The dagger is within 15 feet of the front entrance to the Shrine of the Holy Redeemer at 55 E. Reno Ave, Las Vegas, NV. 89119. The entrance has a lattice-type awning. It's chapel is dedicated to Mexican patron saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe. The chapel has various bronze artwork and carvings dated centuries ago. The shrine is in proximity of McCarran airport and just outside the strip's boundary lines. The church is also bordered by Haven, E. Ali Baba, and Giles Streets.
After countless weeks of going through the Vegas Die book, I have reason to believe the dagger is located on or near the El Cortez Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. Can this please be confirmed so that I can search further and pinpoint the location?
Rat Pack connection. UNLV connection. Davey Pearl (boxing hall of famer). Cheap Dive hang-out. Classic Bar of Old Vegas. The dagger is within 15 feet of the Grinning Fish neon sign in front of Davey's Locker at 1149 Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Addison & Highsmith! Addison is a lounge within the J.W. Marriott Las Vegas Resort property. The resort has a waterfall and garden outside the somewhat-hidden Ceres restaurant. Ceres is one of the smallest dwarf planets in the Solar System. Ceres was named after the Roman goddess of the agriculture. The dagger is within 15 feet of the outside patio for Ceres which is in the Spa Tower located at the J.W. Marriott resort, 221 N. Rampart, Las , Las, NV.
This has to be the place. Euro-Ghetto fabulous. Famous motel turned youth hostel: TOD Hotel & Hostel. The dagger is located within 15 feet of the virtually-unchanged TOD Motor Motel landmark sign at 1508 Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, Nevada.
OMG....THE SHELLS. The disassembled La Concha clam-like lobby was sent to the Neon Graveyard. The "googie" architectural work (huge shells) of Paul Revere Williams was thereby preserved. The various parts which look like shells sit behind a green fence at the corner of E. McWilliams and N. Encanto Drive. The dagger is within 15 feet of the vacant lot on the corner of E. McWilliams Avenue and N. Encanto Dr.
Near the Clark County 215 Frontage Road and Rainbow. Sand is everywhere outside shopping area. Cafe has a turret (small tower), benches, and ceiling fans in the open dining area out front. There is a "french" and "New Orleans" connection. There's even a "Bob" Evans connection. This is the only franchise with a full bar in Vegas. The dagger is within 15 feet of the Mimi's Cafe at 7315 Arroyo Crossing Parkway, Las Vegas, NV.
Is it in the sandy area near the top of the small hill east of the pond in Sunset Park (see attached image). Note, this is in the same general area as my guess on 12/27, but more than 15 feet away. I was out "dagger hunting" with the kids and got a hit with my metal detector at this location. I dug down about 6 or 7 inches and hit some rocks. The metal detector was still saying there was something in the hole, but we could not get past the rocks. (36°3’59.70”N 115°6’42.70”W)
...in/on/near/around the large tree near the Acacia Demonstration Gardens? Approximately 36*01'48.55"N 115*00'57.65"W per Google Earth.
I believe I have narrowed down the location of the dagger to an area of Lorenzi Park. This area is where the Nevada State Museum is located (700 Twin Lakes Drive). I have been to the location now on multiple trips but have not yet purchased the $4.00 for admission to search further. I have scoured many of the trees in the area to no avail. Can you please respond and let me know if it is worthwhile to seek admission into the exhibit to help aid in my search?

Who in their right mind is going to hide a weapon somewhere where someone can get hurt, or hurt someone with your silver Dagger. The pin is mightier than the sword. The Silver Dagger is located in the Williams Costume company store located at 1226 S. 3rd Street. It is on the corner of Colorado and 3rd. The treasure could be a key& chain of the Vegas sign WELCOME TO FABULOUS LAS VEGAS Nevada. A key to the city of Las Vegas which is usually given to a person by the mayor. Okay, well, attached is a .jpg photo with description that intends to depict the location (within 15 ft.), as I live in Florida. Since things are not always as they seam (pun intended) I have come to the conclusion that this is the location due to the fact that an 18 ft. tall, 2 ton, "silver dagger" is located in the small flower bed (shown) in the Conservatory at the Bellagio "Gardens" Hotel & Casino, in Las Vegas, at the entrance to the Spa Tower.

I want to thank you for participating in the Quest Mystery, and especially to those hundred of Questors who have submitted guesses as to the dagger's location. No guess is too unreasonable. All submissions are regarded as serious since you are taking the Quest serious enough to participate. Below are examples of past guesses. Because there have been so many guesses submitted we can only list a few at this time but will list other guesses in the future.
Let me reiterate several points in the questing: (1) the Questor needs to directly find the dagger or have one's guess to be within 15 feet. Merely saying, 'it is in such-and-such cemetery' is too general. (2) Feel free to send along the logic on how you arrived at a Quest Guess. There are some very intelligent Questors, and some of their ideas certainly need to be considered in creating the next Quest Mystery. (3) You have to read the book to find the dagger. I have a question regarding "guesses" of the location of the treasure dagger. If a person guesses a building such as a retail store or restaurant as the location of the dagger such as McDonalds on Charleston across from UMC, and that's where it was, would you allow that as a legitimate guess and award them the prize?
The reason I ask is if there was a Questor who had limited means and resources but they did their research and gave the reason they came to guess that location, but they didn't know the layout of the property, would they be able to collect? There is obviously more than 15 feet between the drive-thru window and the men's bathroom so does that stand as far as a guessing a building or suite in a strip mall? By the way, I enjoy the questing and have learned much more about Las Vegas history by doing research. The history behind the history is very informative about how some of Las Vegas came to be what it is, and without questing, there wouldn't be much reason to research the things I have...thank you.
Response: I would have to say that specifically you need to be within 15 feet of the prize dagger, and in that presumption, if you are that close in your guess, for all intent, you probably have the exact idea in mind where the dagger is, and should be able to locate it directly. As for armchair Questors, those not in town, there are several Questors who I have a high opinion of who are honest and reputable. If you think you have a strong guess, based on book clues, and/or the black daggers, then send your guess to me, and let me know you are contacting a local Questor to check out the location. That should protect you from anything not proper. You might however offer a finder's fee, like ___ % to the local Questor for helping you locate the dagger.

Okay I really think I have this thing figured out. (How many times have you heard that?) I am submitting this to you and will head to this location later this evening, before they close to investigate it, because
1) I'm not sure how big the store is, can't get within 15ft.
2) What could be better than actually finding it in person, and recognizing it as the much sought after silver dagger?? Nothing.

Here's how I came to this solution:
Starting with the major clue the author has consistently been repeating: "Nothing is as it seems."
That seemed the most significant, and in my mind seemed a logical choice that we weren't looking for an actual dagger, and that is most likely the reason it hasn't been found yet. Clever author.
Ok so I began googling silver dagger to see what else it could possibly be. I came across the literary award given to crime writers and thought how perfect that was, but after trying everyway possible to link it to a location in LV, hit a dead end. Then came across an old post on the forum that someone previously had also had that thought.
Just couldn't get past that idea that it was not a real dagger though so kept searching. Found an old comic book character named "Silver Dagger" but couldn't imagine how something so random could be narrowed down to a location in LV. So I began reading about him.
Silver Dagger's character used to be a cardinal in the church. He goes around killing people with his silver daggers. He believes he is righteous, acting as "an avenging angel" which Katherine was described as in the book.
This seemed to be a very good suspect to me, but how can I find him from the book? I started going back through the book to see if there was anything to support my theory. Biggie" # 1: Eric gives Owen a comic book he drew. ( I almost jumped for joy.)
There seem to be many biblical references but I remember thinking it was odd when I read the book originally cause Katherine told Owen after her confession "Old fashioned bible justice is the code of the west." I found that strange at the time, but seems to fit now.
I even noticed someone making wolf sounds at the final shoot out in the garden, (Silver Dagger fought the Wolfman in comic book), and also felt that some of Hi and Jinx song lyrics could be fantasy, and referring to comic book scenes. Those things admittedly could be a stretch.
I think there also may have been a reference in the book about a "written quote" which happens to be a line from Silver Dagger's favorite quotes, but I didn't have time to search whole book for it, and wasn't sure if I imagined it or not?
However I felt I had enough to keep going down this trail. Just wasn't sure how. I figured comic book stores would be the next logical step, but there is so many, and there had to be something to lead me there I thought, couldn't just be random.
I did more searching, even found cover of comic book with Silver Dagger and other characters depicted on tarot cards, and thought it may be a solution to napkin puzzle, and a way to find store. No luck.
Kept searching. I went to Marvel's site (Comic Book Publisher) and they had a link to find comic book stores. So put in my zip and got a list of 5.
When I saw the name of the store, Alternate Reality, I immediately thought "nothing is as it seems"!! OMG! So I went to their website to learn more. Thats when I found the owners wife is Katherine!! I couldn't believe it. It all made sense. Find the killer with the dagger!
This seems to be a very solid conclusion to me. As I said, I'm going to eat dinner or go there shortly, and if this is coincidence I will just die. Too crazy. It has to be answer. I'm hoping.

C) The dagger is not hidden in Sunset Park, but it is CLOSE to Sunset Park, and/or clues to it's actual location are located in the park (in which case, option A would still partially apply)
or
D) Some other fourth option.
I have no reason to believe that you would flat out lie to me, so I'm going to rule out option A. Since I don't know what option D is, that leaves B and C.
If it is B, then congratulations! You have succeeded! But that doesn't help me in my quest.
So, that leaves option C. If it is C, and you're trying to lead me away from the park because it will ultimately lead me to the actual location, then I must continue searching in and around the park (unless of course you want to take option C off the table right now.) ;-)

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I will keep trying. I have read the forums and it seems to me that they have gotten way, way tooo deep in terms of trying to decipher the codes in the book. The morse code suits only make sense for the first & second section of the book but in the third section the author adds the spades which blows the morse code theory out of the water as I don't think you would use the spades & hearts as a breaker. I thought that the Garden of Allah is a reference to a cemetery and the twins songs both refer to the heavens so I started researching cemeteries in the downtown area and came across a reference to Oran Gragson (play on words = Grayson); the past Mayor of Las Vegas as being interred at the Palms Cemetery. My first choice was the Woodlawn Cemetery but the only connection to the story I found at the Woodlawn Cemetary. I am still working the napkin code but what I don't quite have figured out yet is how the grafitti artists plays in the whole of the puzzle. Thanks again for your response ... The Silver Dagger is located in the Williams Costume company store located at 1226 S. 3rd Street. It is on the corner of Colorado and 3rd. There is also the Dice Girls of the "El Rancho" mural on the side of the building. The dagger is located in the back rental section. I have also attached a picture. The treasure could be a key& chain of the Vegas sign WELCOME TO FABULOUS LAS VEGAS Nevada. A key to the city of Las Vegas which is usually given to a person by the mayor. The Book is the Dagger and the Vegas Sign is the Treasure. If I were to come to Vegas I most likly would have to take my picture under the sign and present it to you as my finding of the treasure. Okay, well, attached is a .jpg photo with description that intends to depict the location (within 15 ft.), as I live in Florida. Since things are not always as they seam (pun intended) I have come to the conclusion that this is the location due to the fact that an 18 ft. tall, 2 ton, "silver dagger" is located in the small flower bed (shown) in the Conservatory at the Bellagio "Gardens" Hotel & Casino, in Las Vegas, at the entrance to the Spa Tower.
